Driven partridge shooting in Spain, on one of the country’s finest estates
Classic driven partridge or walked-up shooting over wild Mediterranean country, a few kilometres from Cork Valley, which sits 55 km from Toledo and 130 km from Madrid. We run the whole day: transfer, a loader for every gun, an interpreter, breakfast and a proper local lunch.
€50 per bird

Driven partridge el ojeo
This is what Spain is known for. Guns stand at numbered pegs along a line, usually tucked below a ridge, while a team of beaters works the hillside and pushes the birds forward. A red-leg will get up two or three times before it really commits, and when it does it comes over the line high and very fast.
That is why the ground matters more than anything: the steeper the hills and valleys, the stronger the flight and the harder the shooting. The day is split into several drives, with a break mid-morning and lunch at the end. Each gun has their own loader alongside them throughout.
Best for: parties who want the classic Spanish day, with its ritual and its pace. Very little walking.
Walked-up caza en mano
No beaters here. The guns walk the ground in line and the birds get up when they get up. You cover olive groves, stubble and low scrub hillside, usually behind pointing dogs that find the coveys and hold them until you arrive.
It is harder work and far less predictable than driven shooting. Birds break at different angles and at distances that are never the same twice, so the shot is decided in a second. In return you actually walk the estate and see all of it.
Best for: shooters who would rather walk, in small groups.
What the day includes
- Transfer from Cork Valley to the estate and back.
- A loader for every gun, all day.
- An interpreter, so nothing gets lost in translation.
- Breakfast before the first drive.
- A traditional local lunch to finish.
Compare that with what the rest of the market charges. On a Spanish driven day the loader is extra, €70 to €150 a day; gun hire runs €100 to €150; and a non-shooting companion €200 to €400. Here the loader, the interpreter, the transfer, breakfast and lunch are already in the price.
Accommodation at Cork Valley is booked separately. The estate is close by, so you shoot in the morning and sleep here the same night.

Coming from the United States or abroad
You can absolutely shoot here as a foreign visitor, and it is simpler than most people expect.
- A Castilla-La Mancha hunting licence. It is issued by the region and applied for online. Current fees: €41.79 for one year, €70.00 for the one-year multi-region licence, €208.91 for five years. We take care of the whole process for you.
- Your own hunting credentials count. If you hold a hunting licence or hunter-education certificate at home, you do not have to sit the Spanish exam.
- Third-party liability insurance, which is compulsory to shoot here.
- Guns. Hire ours at €50 per gun per day and you skip bringing a firearm into Spain altogether, with no import paperwork and no airline firearm handling.
Write to us before you book and we will go through your case: arriving from the US is not the same as arriving from inside the EU.
When you can shoot

Frequently asked questions
How much does partridge shooting in Spain cost?
€50 per bird, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 500 birds a day. Add €50 per hired gun and €15 per box of 25 cartridges. Transfer, loader, interpreter, breakfast and lunch are already included.
Do I need a licence to hunt in Spain as an American?
Yes, a Castilla-La Mancha hunting licence. If you already hold valid hunting credentials in your own country you do not need to take the Spanish examination. Third-party liability insurance is also compulsory.
Can I shoot without bringing my own shotgun?
Yes. We hire guns at €50 per gun per day, which avoids all firearm import paperwork.
Where is the estate?
In the Montes de Toledo, close to Cork Valley, which is 55 km from Toledo and 130 km from Madrid. The transfer from Cork Valley is included in the day.
What is the difference between driven and walked-up?
On a driven day the guns wait at pegs and beaters push the birds over them. Walked-up means the guns walk the ground themselves behind pointing dogs and flush the birds as they go.
